Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive

Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive

System Components and Construction Process

  1. Vinyl Flooring
Can include LVT planks, vinyl sheets, or tiles designed for commercial or medical use.

  2. Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive
Applied evenly over the prepared subfloor and allowed to dry to a tacky state before the flooring is placed. Its "open time" allows installers to work efficiently without rushing.

  3. Subfloor
Must be smooth, level, dry, and free of dust, grease, or contaminants. Any imperfections may telegraph through the vinyl, so surface prep is critical.

Pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) is a high-performance bonding solution formulated to create a tackified surface that securely grips vinyl flooring when pressed into place. Unlike traditional "wet-set" adhesives, PSA allows greater flexibility, easier repositioning, and often enables quicker installation with minimal mess or downtime.

This type of adhesive is particularly suited for luxury vinyl tile (LVT), heterogeneous vinyl, or homogeneous sheet flooring, especially in commercial or healthcare settings where clean installation and future maintainability are essential.

Installation Notes:

  • Flooring should be rolled immediately after placement to ensure full contact and avoid air bubbles.

  • PSA allows future tile replacement or repair with minimal disruption.

  • Ideal for temperature-stable environments with normal foot traffic and light wheeled loads.
